Recycled cotton yarn from 100 % circular economy
WECYCLED®
More and more consumers are concerned about sustainability and ecological compatibility. And so are we. That's why we developed WECYCLED®. WECYCLED® is a circular system for our cotton yarns and raw fabrics. It enables the residue-free use of the natural product. WECYCLED® offers textile processing companies, their customers and sales partners a real USP.
Questions about WECYCLED®? Here are the answers:
What is WECYCLED® cotton?
WECYCLED® cotton is recycled from unused Velener yarn and fabric remnants that are left over from our customers' weaving or cutting operations. We return these remnants to individual fibers and spin them again with long-staple GOTS virgin cotton to produce high-quality yarns with the desired specification. On request, we can also weave these directly into WECYCLED® cotton fabrics for you in our weaving mill.
How is WECYCLED® produced?
WECYCLED® is produced in a textile recycling system. We regularly collect yarn and offcuts from participating companies. Employees from a regional workshop for the disabled then separate the yarn remnants from their cardboard bobbins so that both materials can be recycled separately. The yarn and fabric remnants are then shredded back into individual fibers. We mix these recycled fibers with fresh cotton in our spinning mill – and spin WECYCLED® yarn to the desired specification. 0 % waste, 100 % quality.
What are the advantages of WECYCLED®?
Not a single fiber of cotton is wasted. This saves space and water during cultivation and transportation routes along the production chain. Disposal costs are also eliminated because there are no more leftovers. In addition, WECYCLED® secures jobs for people with disabilities and contributes to inclusion. And last but not least, WECYCLED® provides you with a unique USP for your product and the good feeling of making the textile world a little better and more sustainable!
Are there any restrictions on the further processing of WECYCLED®?
No, basically not! The above-average quality is what makes our WECYCLED® yarns so special. We achieve this through a closed textile cycle in which only high-quality cotton remnants from our own production are used. We also blend in particularly long-fiber virgin cotton. Both these factors make WECYCLED® yarns very tear-resistant and uniform. We have ensured these good processing qualities during development with numerous tests and optimizations. There is only one small peculiarity when it comes to dyeing: the blend of recycled and virgin cotton does not result in a homogeneous plain, but in attractive melange shades.
What does No Waste mean at WECYCLED®?
No Waste is a principle of the so-called circular economy. Raw materials and products should be used in such a way that no leftovers or waste remain. In the production of textile fabrics, however, an average of 15 percent of the yarn remains unused on the cardboard bobbin. Just like cutting remnants, they have to be disposed of for a fee. A waste of impeccable raw materials – and the resources that were needed to produce them. In the WECYCLED® system, the yarn remnants are separated from the cardboard bobbins so that both materials can be recycled by type.
Which textiles can be produced with WECYCLED®?
In principle, all textiles for which high-quality conventional or recycled cotton yarns would be used. WECYCLED® yarns can be processed into woven and knitted fabrics for clothing, bed linen, home textiles and much more. We optimize the yarn for your needs and carry out tests to ensure that it meets the desired specifications.
What makes WECYCLED® sustainable?
advantages of WECYCLED® are obvious. Economically, WECYCLED® saves our customers expensive disposal costs. What's more, WECYCLED® also secures jobs, as the sorting is carried out for us by workshops for the disabled.
Top quality, no leftovers.
We have developed and tested the WECYCLED® process over several years of pioneering work. This is why we can guarantee you the best running properties on the machine, tear resistance and optimum suitability for your purpose for fabrics made from WECYCLED® yarns.
