Textile quality depends on the thread: A fabric is only as good as the yarn it is made from. With OE cotton yarns from the Velener spinning mill, you can process first-class material on your weaving and knitting machines.
Excellent machine run and uniformity from the first to the last centimeter.
With us, you benefit from the latest spinning technology, specialist knowledge and a century of cotton experience. We test and optimize every yarn you order from us for your specific application.
Long-fiber qualities with high tensile strength and particularly pure white.
In our spinning mill, we only process carefully selected raw cotton from responsible sourcing. Their long fibers combine to form particularly tear-resistant yarn. And the clean white proves its worth, for example, in table and bed linen as well as terry towelling products from many well-known manufacturers.
Certified quality and maximum textile responsibility.
We see it as our social and ecological duty to improve the textile world for all stakeholders. We produce in an environmentally conscious manner and undergo regular audits and testing. Velener yarns made from certified organic cotton, sustainably grown cotton and WECYCLED®, our zero-waste recycled cotton, guarantee the highest ecological standards.
Take advantage of our textile intelligence.
We will be happy to advise you.
As a textile professional, you probably know which yarn you need. Nevertheless, please tell us what you have in mind. The more we know about how you want to process our yarn, the better we can tailor it to your needs in the spinning mill. We have a lot of experience and excellent references, particularly with bed linen, terry towelling, home textiles, clothing and tent fabrics. Benefit from the know-how of our textile engineers and many decades of spinning experience.
Create added customer value for your product.

0 % waste. 100 % quality.
WECYCLED®. Our yarn made from zero-waste recycling.
Do you know how much cotton literally falls by the wayside in the production process? In weaving mills, many meters of yarn remain on the spools, in sewing mills, heaps of fabric remnants from cutting. Impeccable material – but it is usually disposed of unused, and that also costs money.
The yarn with a real USP.
This is exactly where we started to develop a more sustainable alternative. We turn yarn and fabric remnants from our production into individual fibers. We spin these with long-fiber virgin cotton to create WECYCLED® yarns. In the same high quality that characterizes all Velener yarns: top machine running, uniformity and high tensile strength.
Textile recycling management with a system.
There is a reason for this consistently high quality: we only recycle yarn and fabric remnants from yarns that were produced in our own spinning mill. We collect these from our customers on a regular basis. This creates a closed cycle according to the cradle-to-cradle principle, from which everyone benefits.
Wecycle with us.
The advantages of WECYCLED® yarns:
- Ideal solution for weaving mills, garment manufacturers and others with textile remnants
- Creates real added value for businesses and customers
- Also highly interesting for large textile users
- No leftovers, no waste
- No disposal costs
- Clean recycling principle
- Creates inclusive jobs
- Tip: WECYCLED® also gives discarded workwear, hotel linen, etc. a second life. Interesting for your CSR report

GOTS. Yarn according to the Global Organic Textile Standard.
for organic fibers. With the traceable GOTS seal, you signal to your customers that you comply with strict standards, textile transparency and quality. We Velener stand behind these values, and I'm sure you do too. Use the GOTS-certified cotton yarns from our spinning mill to make your products even better.
Good for the environment.
The international GOTS certificate seals cotton cultivation according to the criteria of organic farming: no synthetic pesticides, no insecticides, no herbicides and no genetic engineering are used. In this way, GOTS yarns protect ecosystems and soils.
Good for people.
The GOTS seal also guarantees compliance with strict social and ethical standards. Child labor and discrimination are prohibited. All workers along the entire supply chain receive at least the respective statutory minimum wage. And health and safety protection applies in the workplace.
Good for your products.
Mission: more sustainability.
Cotton made in Africa and Better Cotton Initiative.
There is a lot wrong with the textile production chain. It is very important to us to contribute to a change in systems and values. This is why we are involved in “Cotton made in Africa” (CMiA) and the “Better Cotton Initiative” (BCI), among others. Both organizations are committed to more sustainable cotton production through various social and economic development projects. .
Voluntary sustainability standards.
Cotton made in Africa is a voluntary sustainability standard for African cotton. The textile label promotes sustainable, smallholder cotton cultivation, particularly in the sub-Saharan region. To this end, the initiative finances projects based on the principle of help for self-help. The Better Cotton Initiative operates in a similar way: it supports local communities in the world's cotton-growing countries through education and health programs.
Better working conditions, less environmental impact.
You can support these measures with appropriately certified yarns. However, BCI- and CMiA-certified cotton is predominantly grown conventionally. Only qualities certified with the green CmiA seal are organic cotton.
Yarn for a better future.
The advantages of CmiA and BCI yarns:
- Reduction of water consumption and use of chemicals
- Protection of workers' rights and promotion of fair working conditions
- Focus on long-term profitable cultivation methods
- Transparency and traceability along the supply chain
- Support for the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Quality tested for harmful substances.
Yarns certified according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100
Yarns certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 stand for textiles you can trust. The label is one of the best-known and most trusted standards for testing textiles for harmful substances. Our certified yarns have been tested by an independent OEKO-TEX® partner institute. Each tested component meets strict, globally standardised limit values for a wide range of regulated and non-regulated substances. By using OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified yarns, we support our customers in complying with applicable chemical requirements and in offering products with proven, verifiable textile safety.
For textiles that are close to the skin.
Textiles that come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin require particular confidence in their safety. Whether towels, bathrobes, bed linen or baby articles: OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified yarns contribute to human-ecologically safe end products. If your finished articles are also certified according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 product class 1, they have been tested to the strictest requirements and limit values, safe enough for babies.
Trust, made in Velen.
With our OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified yarns, you benefit from the usual reliable Velener quality combined with independently verified product safety. We provide you with a transparent, recognised basis for your own product communication along the textile value chain.
The advantages of yarns according to the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100:
- Each tested component complies with strict limit values for over 1,000 regulated and non-regulated substances.
- The comprehensive OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 test criteria are based on scientific data and are regularly updated.
- Requirements that are regularly updated.
- Supports compliance with international chemical requirements, such as REACH and other relevant regulations.
- Independent laboratory testing for verifiable, globally recognised product safety.
Sustainable cotton yarns with recycled content – GRS certified.
GRS. Certified according to the Global Recycled Standard for recycled cotton.
Our cotton yarns certified to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) contain verified recycled cotton fibers – with a minimum of 20% recycled content depending on the yarn quality (for B2B documentation) and a minimum of 50% for product labeling – in accordance with Textile Exchange guidelines. Every stage of the supply chain – from the collection of recycled cotton to spinning and final production – is independently verified. This ensures transparency, quality, and sustainable responsibility in every meter of yarn.
Conserving resources – promoting circularity.
Using recycled cotton significantly reduces the need for water, energy, and raw materials. GRS-certified yarns guarantee a minimum recycled content of 20%, verified through the supply chain. This supports a functioning circular economy: less waste, less environmental impact, and more textile responsibility.
Environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing.
The GRS goes beyond verifying recycled content. Certified facilities must also meet strict environmental, chemical, and social requirements. This includes low-impact processing, responsible wastewater and waste management, and fair working conditions – also within cotton and yarn production.
Recognized internationally – trusted by your customers.
More and more B2B customers and end consumers are looking for verifiable sustainability. A GRS-certified cotton yarn from our mill demonstrates the use of genuine recycled cotton, verified by an internationally recognized standard. It strengthens your brand and complements other certifications like GOTS or OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100.
Benefits of GRS-certified recycled cotton yarns:
- Contain at least 20% recycled cotton
- Traceable from the recycler to the final product
- Meet strict social, environmental, and chemical processing criteria
- Save resources: less water, energy, and waste
- Recognized global standard for credible sustainability
- Strong arguments for your B2B marketing
- Proven Velener yarn quality with added ecological value
