CmiA and Better Cotton yarns
Cotton yarns sourced responsibly.
With CmiA and Better Cotton, we offer you CmiA cotton yarns and Better Cotton yarns from established sourcing schemes. Both initiatives begin at the cotton-growing stage and aim to improve conditions for people and the environment in cotton production. ‘Cotton made in Africa’ (CMiA) and the ‘Better Cotton Initiative’ (BCI) are committed to more sustainable cotton production through various social and economic development projects.
CmiA cotton yarns and Better Cotton yarns from our spinning mill.
Through CmiA and Better Cotton, Velener supports two established schemes that focus on cotton production. Cotton made in Africa focuses on smallholder cotton farming in sub-Saharan Africa. Better Cotton works internationally with cotton producers and supply chain partners. Both schemes set out binding requirements for cotton cultivation and pursue defined social, environmental and economic objectives.
Mass-balanced and traceably documented.
Velener processes CmiA and Better Cotton orders in accordance with the mass balance principle. This involves recording the quantity of cotton used and documenting it via the respective schemes. In the spinning mill, it may be blended with other cotton. The key requirement is that no more yarn may be declared as CmiA or Better Cotton than the corresponding quantities of cotton that were purchased.

With CmiA and Better Cotton yarns, you can meet your customers’ requirements for responsibly sourced raw materials. You can transparently document your participation in the respective schemes throughout your supply chain.
