GOTS-certified cotton yarns from our spinning mill are traceable and provide a reliable foundation for your certified textile products made from Velener organic cotton. GOTS is an internationally recognised textile processing standard for organic fibres. The certification combines requirements regarding fibre content with environmental, chemical and social criteria in textile processing.
Organic cotton from organic farming.
The organic cotton used in our GOTS-certified yarns comes from certified organic farming. This means that harmful synthetic pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilisers are prohibited, as are genetically modified organisms. Further textile processing is subject to additional, strict requirements regarding the chemicals used and any potential residues.
Binding social criteria at certified processing stages.
At all processing stages certified by the GOTS label, binding criteria regarding human rights and social conditions apply. Child labour and discrimination are prohibited. Furthermore, clear requirements apply to wages and working hours, as well as to health and safety at work.
